For cutting nails there are many nice little clippers like Millers Forge and even a little cat nail clipper for the small dogs.

But an expert who has a top dog really recommends using a Dremel tool rather than the so-called pet nail trimmers. Get a real tool which will be less expensive, more efficient and more durable.  The investment of $33 will keep your companion's nails in top shape.  Test the grinding on your own nail to get the feel first.  Start with no power on and touch your dog's nails at the beginning, then to build it up to a short burst of power.  You can do this a couple of days a week as routine maintenance and be sure to save breakfast kibbles as rewards when the session is over and play afterward to make it a fun mini event.  Keep each session short. Below is good place to purchase.
